We house over 4,000 students in 15 residence halls and one apartment complex.  The residence life staff consists of one associate director, three assistant directors, one conduct/care case manager, two support staff, three supervising resident directors, five resident directors, three assistant resident directors, and approximately 100 paraprofessional staff.  We are seeking candidates who have a commitment to re-designing policies, practices, and daily operations to eradicate racism and all forms of oppression to transform the on-campus student experience at Western Washington University to create communities where difference is valued.  Our Residence Life team works together to build a culture that encourages, supports, and celebrates the diverse identities, backgrounds, and perspectives of our employees through supervision of staff, training, engaging students and staff in dialogue and implementing systemic strategies to create more inclusive and equitable living communities.  This drives our innovation and connects us to the students we serve in each of our residential communities.

About the Position

This Fiscal Unit of University Residences is in need of some temporary support. This position will be responsible for a portion of the daily operational business activities within the unit such as: 

  • Assist in the department’s student accounts receivable process
  • Prepare and send communication notices and respond to students' questions
  • Provide information appropriate to the student’s situation and make appropriate referrals to Financial Aid, Student Business Office, Student Outreach Services, and other campus departments as needed
  • Review P-Card activity and assist the Fiscal Specialist as needed with hall council accounts, P-Card reconciliation, follow-up, and training
  • Implement housing deposit deferrals, tracking, and verification of paid deposit discrepancies
Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to prepare and maintain fiscal records and reports
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and to prioritize deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students
  • Ability to work in a diverse, collegial setting

Salary Salary Range 34 ($15.74 - $20.32/hr) 
Bargaining Unit This position is covered by a Washington Federation of State Employees bargaining union. New employees are eligible for membership under the current collective bargaining agreement at 350 hours of employment.
