About the Position

The Revenue Specialist will, under general direction, provide fiscal administrative support functions necessary for receipting and recording revenue submitted to the University. The Specialist is responsible for verifying all university payments received against receipts recorded in Western's fiscal record keeping system. They will also identify irregularities in the reconciliation process and independently take corrective action. The Specialist will coordinate assignment and sale of parking permits for contractors, vendors, department guests, visitors and retired faculty and staff in parking system, including waitlist and lot assignments. The Specialist possesses comprehensive knowledge of specific policies, procedures, state and federal regulations to provide services in the areas of cash handling and parking services.

For Washington State HR purposes, this position is classified as a Fiscal Technician 2.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years’ experience in fiscal record keeping.
• Two years’ of professional cash handling experience.
• Two years documented full-time customer service experience with problem solving and
communication of policies and procedures in a professional setting.
• Must be able to communicate with others effectively.
• Proven ability to efficiently organize and prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work
independently despite frequent interruptions.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in maintaining
confidentiality while remaining calm in highly stressful situations.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
• Recognized ability to follow established office policies and procedures working with state
and federal regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to contribute positively in a team-oriented environment.
• Demonstrated strong experience with MS Office Suite including MS Outlook, Word (mail
merge), and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's degree or college level accounting classes.
• Professional working experience in a higher education environment.
• Experience reconciling accounts (customer accounts, budgets, invoicing, billing).
• Knowledge of State and Federal regulations with respect to higher education.
• Experience with Ellucian Banner or similar ERS accounting/finance system.
• Experience using Transact or similar online payment platform.


New hires typically begin at $2,864 per month including an excellent benefits package.

Bargaining Unit

This position is part of bargaining unit A and is covered by the collective bargaining agreement with Washington Federation of State Employees union.
