About the Department

The Student Health Center is a primary care medical clinic specializing in college health.  The Student Health Center is staffed by a team of board certified family physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and support staff.  We provide an extensive array of services including preventive health care and management of health concerns, illnesses and injuries.  We strive to support student success academically, physically and emotionally. We exist to assist our students to stay well during their college years, get well if they become ill so as to minimize time away from their studies, and to be well lifelong.

About the Position Under the direction of the Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Physician, the Registered Nurse 2 provides safe therapeutic care for a diverse population of university-age patients in a university setting. This is a full-time cyclic (40-hours/week, 9-months/year) position.
Required Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse with BS degree in Nursing or related field
  • Eligible for Washington State RN License at the time of hire
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • 2 years of RN experience providing healthcare in an ambulatory/outpatient clinic, college/school and/or urgent care clinic setting
  • Experience working with diverse, underserved and/or minority populations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Telephone, electronic and in-person triage nursing experience
  • Experience administering immunizations
  • Experience drawing blood
  • Experience performing lab tests in a CLIA-waived lab setting (rapid tests, dipstick tests; as well as preparing specimens for submission to an outside lab)
  • College health nursing experience
  • Experience providing mental healthcare triage
  • Experience writing and maintaining policies and protocols - especially as they relate to healthcare accreditation
  • Experience with PointnClick electronic medical record
Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment:
  • Maintains BCLS certification
  • Maintains RN licensure and license remains in good standing with the State of Washington
  • Successful fit testing and the ability to wear a N95 mask for several hours
  • Maintains Tetanus, pertussis, influenza & COVID vaccinations
  • Proof of measles, mumps, rubella, hep B & varicella immunity
Salary Salary Range 64N1 | $5,668 - $9,063/month, including an excellent benefits package
Bargaining Unit This position is part of bargaining unit PT and is covered by the collective bargaining agreement with Public School Employees of WWU.
