About the Position

Western’s Sustainability, Equity, & Justice Fund Grant Program Coordinator provides students with the opportunity to design, create, and implement projects that promote sustainable environmental, social, human health and economic practices.

In your role as the Sustainability, Equity, & Justice Fund Grant Program Coordinator you will be responsible for creating engaging outreach to promote the program, supporting and coordinating the activities of grant program teams, and monitoring and managing grant-funded sustainability projects across campus. You will report directly to the Sustainability, Equity, & Justice Fund Manager.

Typical duties include:

  • Provide direction, advice, and support for student project teams. 
    • Meet regularly with project teams 
    • Advise students on best sustainability practices 
    • Determine potentially-impacted stakeholders for all projects 
    • Mentor student growth throughout application process 
    • Develop metrics to measure project success 
    • Regularly review all student project activity with program manager 
    • Provide grant application and details to program manager for review
  • Develop and implement program outreach through class raps, quarterly Idea Labs, and campus-wide informational events.
  • Provide project management for all funded projects and oversee day-to-day management of projects through completion, ensuring budget needs are met.
  • Support and advise program student staff

This is a full-time, 11.5/month position.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • One year of project coordination experience in a professional setting 
  • One year of customer service experience (may overlap with project coordination experience)
  • Working knowledge of sustainability principles and practices
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting the needs of diverse audiences, especially students
  • Patience, flexibility, and a capacity to receive and provide nuanced, delicate communication
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in sustainability or related field
  • Professional experience in sustainability or a related field
  • Skill and experience in public speaking
  • Demonstrated experience with projects that demand a high level of attention to detail
  • Experience working in higher education
Salary New hires typically begin at $3,272/month, including an excellent benefits package.
Bargaining Unit This position is part of bargaining unit A and is covered by the collective bargaining agreement with Washington Federation of State Employees of WWU.
