About the Position The temporary custodian position works under general direction of the Associate Director of University Residences Facilities and Custodial Services from June 1-September 30. This position reports directly to a Custodial Supervisor (C4). Custodians perform a variety of health and cleaning tasks in the residence halls, apartments, and dining facilities. The custodian works in the residential community and is frequently around residents and conference guests. For the purpose of emergencies, this position is non-essential personnel.
Required Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Physical ability to push and pull up to 50lbs to perform required work
  • Physical ability to lift 40lbs to perform required work
  • Ability to interact in a positive manner with the campus community including students, staff, building managers, academic personnel, craft personnel, and co-workers in a diverse environment
  • Work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization, outside agencies, and the general public
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write and follow oral/written instructions
  • Basic computer skills to read and send e-mail; and complete on-line forms such as timesheets and leave requests
  • Must pass a Criminal Conviction check
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six months + experience in a team cleaning environment
  • Six months + custodial experience in an educational, commercial and/or institutional setting
  • Six months + experience providing custodial duties in a residential setting
Salary $12.74/hr
Bargaining Unit

This position is part of bargaining unit B and is covered by the Washington Federation of State Employees at 350 hours worked.  

This position will work no more than 1050 hours.
