About the Position

As a temporary Recreation & Athletics Specialist you will support and assist the Aquatics and Youth Programs coordinator in administrative duties for summer camps, assist in planning and facilitation of summer camp programs, and will act a substitute summer camp counselor as needed.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting and assisting in summer camp administrative duties
  • Assist in planning and facilitation of summer camp programs
  • Substitute camp counselor
Required Qualifications
  • Experience working with/supervising groups of children
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Experience mentoring/coaching children with emphasis on youth development
  • Ability to oversee up to 10 children at one time
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Demonstrated multicultural competence or desire to learn about other cultures
  • Ability to multitask with attention to detail
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and a positive attitude
  • Ability to activate engage in group games and recreational activities
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and handle conflict
Preferred Qualifications

 

Salary $17.84/hour
Bargaining Unit These positions are part of bargaining unit PTE and are covered by the collective bargaining agreement with Public School Employees of WWU at 350 hours worked.
