About the Position Support the AS Bookstore’s mission to provide a diverse student population with the course materials they need to be successful. This position primarily focuses on providing support for the Bookstore’s online services, including processing online orders and managing images and product presentation. This position also provides customer service and cashiering functions; assists in marketing and supporting campus events; assists in stocking and checking pricing and availability of inventory; and performs as back up for the Retail Clerk Lead.

This position’s work schedule is 7:30am - 4:30pm Monday through Friday, with additional required hours, including weekends, at the beginning of each term and for special events.

 Responsibilities include:

  • Process online orders, back-orders, and promotional kits
  • Photograph, maintain, and update Bookstore website with alternative text for accessibility product images
  • Provide assistance to Course Materials with rental charge outs, inventory, research, and merchandising
  • Assist Retail Clerk Lead with Bookstore Operations, supervision of student employees on main floor, and cashiering functions
  • Assist with marketing and supporting Bookstore events such as book signing, commencement and other campus events
  • Assist with clerical duties in course materials
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Experience handling cash and reconciling tills.
  • Experience working with diverse and inclusive individuals, teams and customers
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team player with a wide variety of constituents in a busy and challenging work environment.
  • Experience with digital photography and editing images.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform work accurately with excellent attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year experience in retail setting, cash register operations or general clerical work.
  • Experience with HTML.
  • Experience with Photoshop or other similar products.
  • Experience working with on-line order fulfillment.
Salary New hires typically start at $2,530/month, including an excellent benefits package.
Bargaining Unit This position is part of bargaining unit A and is covered by the collective bargaining agreement with the Washington Federation of State Employees.
