About the Position In coordination with other HR Professionals and with the Equal Opportunity Office (EOO), under the direction and guidance of the Assistant Director of Organizational & Talent Development, as our Talent Acquisition and Inclusion Specialist, you will:
  • Assist colleges/departments with identifying & attracting a broad and diverse applicant pool for staff positions
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain relationships with individuals and organizations, internal and external to the university who are focused on achieving a diverse workforce
  • Identify, evaluate, and present new recruitment sources that will generate a quality, broad and diverse set of applicants
  • Work with community and state contacts to enhance workforce diversity
  • In coordination with EOO, develop and manage outreach programs for women, minorities, people with disabilities and veterans
  • Coordinate, develop and implement strategic programs, advertising, web and social media outreach, to recruit an increasingly diverse pool of applicants; and conduct market research as needed to inform this process
  • Represent Western at local and regional recruiting events
  • Work with search chairs / hiring authorities to accurately represent position needs in search materials and to provide hiring authorities with any unique insights for recruitment materials to attract applicants
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Two (2) years experience with diversity and inclusivity-focused employee recruitment or equivalent combination of education and similar experience
  • Experience addressing issues of diversity and inclusivity in the workplace
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate and work with a wide range of individuals and constituencies within a diverse and inclusive community
  • Exhibit a strong client focus and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of recruiting processes including selection methods
  • Previous experience with candidate sourcing tools and methods
  • Excellent knowledge of recruitment marketing, trends and best practices
  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state and local employment laws
  • Effective negotiation, influencing and communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in time management and multitasking
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to compose and edit written materials
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality of clients and records
  • Ability to travel locally
  • Ability to work nights and/or weekends as required
 
  • Experience in Human Resource Management
  • Experience in a higher education environment
  • SHRM-CP certification or equivalent
