About the Department This position is located within Facilities Development and Capital Budget (FDCB) in the Division of Business and Financial Affairs.  FDCB and the division support Western’s mission to bring together individuals of diverse backgrounds and perspectives in an inclusive, student-centered university that develops the potential of learners and the well-being of communities. About the Position As our Budget Analyst 2, you will assist the Capital Budget office with processing payment invoices, commitments, commitment change orders, and project close-outs associated with our capital projects. The work involves utilizing project management software (e-Builder) and correspondence with State entities. You will also be involved in contract administration for consultant and construction contracts and provide project management and leadership staff support in the development and tracking of capital project allotments and expenditures.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with major study in management information systems, business administration, or related field OR equivalent education/training
  • Four years relevant budget or construction management experience
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
  • High level of proficiency with MS Access and MS Excel and experience extracting and moving data between databases and spreadsheets especially Access and Excel and demonstrate an ability to use new software systems
  • Experience with construction and consultant contract administration
  • Experience in processing invoices and other payment documentation associated with construction projects
  • Experience reconciling financial data from digital recordation systems
  • Ability to work with diverse teams in an inclusive, fast-paced work environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with complex computerized database systems (Banner or equivalent), SQL query language, web page development; PowerPoint
  • Experience in higher education or public budgeting
Salary New hires typically start at $4275/month including an excellent benefits package
Bargaining Unit This position is part of bargaining unit PTE and is covered by the collective bargaining agreement with the Public School Employees of WWU.
