About the Position

This position requires knowledge of Finance, Human Resources, payroll processes, and business practices; familiarity with training techniques and learning styles; and knowledge of business process analysis and IT project management.  Under general supervision, this position will support the Finance and HR applications for the Millennium FAST Data Warehouse; create custom reporting in FAST Finance and FAST HR; provide classroom and one-on-one training for FAST and Banner Finance; and provide backup support for the Banner Finance module. 

Your specific roles and responsibilities are:

Provide functional and technical support for FAST Finance and FAST HR on a daily basis. Duties include:

  • Support FAST Finance and HR users over the phone and in person as needed answering questions, investigating issues, and gathering requirements for custom reports.
  • Troubleshoot reported FAST issues and coordinate with vendor (Millennium) for all fixes.
  • Submit cases to vendor to report FAST problems.
  • Coordinate upgrades with FAST Focus Group, Millennium, and EAS.
  • Conduct upgrade testing in FAST Finance and FAST HR. 
  • Assist Budget Office with upgrade flow-through tests from FAST Budget module, as needed.
  • Act as primary Site Admin, Finance Admin, and HR Admin.
  • Create and maintain custom queries and reports.
  • Create local tables, dashboards, and pinned reports.
  • Create and maintain permission roles as needed.
  • Maintain tight control over restricted columns in FAST HR.
  • Grant user permissions to menu items, reports, dashboards, and pinned reports.

Provide training for FAST and Banner Finance. Duties include:

  • Work with Human Resources, the Provosts’ Office, Accounting Services, and other departments to determine training needs, and periodically re-assess those needs.
  • Provide classroom training for FAST Finance (with in-class support and content assistance from Provost’s or Accounting Services staff).
  • Provide classroom training for FAST HR (with in-class support and content assistance from HR staff).
  • Provide one-on-one training for FAST Finance and FAST HR for those unable to attend classroom training, as requested
  • Provide “on demand” training over the phone for FAST Finance and FAST HR, as needed.
  • Work with Accounting Services to provide Banner Finance training, as needed.
  • Create and maintain documentation and training materials for FAST HR, FAST Finance, and Banner Finance.

Provide backup support for Banner Finance and assist with granting Banner permissions. Duties include:

  • As backup, assist primary Banner Finance support analyst in testing during upgrades, coordinating Finance integration with other systems, and coordinating with cross-functional groups for changes or upgrades impacting Banner Finance.
  • Assist with granting permissions requests for Banner Finance, Banner HR, and Banner A/R.

Research best practices and business needs and analyze process improvement opportunities.  Duties include:

  • Research best practices, business needs, and analyze process improvement opportunities.
  • Provide recommendations together with project manager(s) and/or other analysts.

Assist with project management tasks. Duties include:

  • Participate in project sessions, decisions and action items.
  • Follow up with business owners or team members for completion.

Consult with end users regarding IT system needs in coordination with IT project manager(s) and other business and systems analysts. Duties include:

  • Write training documentation and work instructions.
  • Respond to and resolve IT application issues reported by users with assistance from other functional analysts and/or system analysts.
  • Provide users training, either one-on-one or in a classroom setting.
  • Support and enhance existing applications in compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Conduct unit, system or usability testing, as needed.
  • Work with other functional and/or system analysts, and serve as part of a problem solving team in addressing more complex issues.
  • Provide backup support to other IT specialists.
  • Provide other systems and project support functions, as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems or equivalent experience.
  • 2-3 years of aggregate experience in one or more of the following fields: Human Resources, Payroll, Performance Evaluation, Learning Systems, Finance, Accounting, Forecasting and Budget.
  • Fluent understanding of business process analysis and strong process mapping skill.
  • Participated in analytical work in a large-scale computer systems or software environment
  • Understand general daily business processes.
  • Strong ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively translate, simplify and communicate technical information to diverse groups of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, as well as in various team structures.
  • Fluent knowledge of MS Office Suite, including MS Visio and MS Project.
  • Highly self-driven and self-motivated.
  • Team oriented, user friendly, and able to elicit welcoming customer engagement.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Ellucian Banner ERP System.
  • Experience in data warehouse applications.
  • Prior experience and participation in system implementation, local or cloud based.
  • Understanding of Human Resources business processes.
  • Understanding of Finance business processes and internal control.
  • Fluent with MS Access and MS SharePoint.
Salary New hires typically start at $4065 including an excellent benefits package
Bargaining Unit This position is part of bargaining unit PTE and is covered by the collective bargaining agreement with the Public School Employees of WWU.
