About the Position As the front office designate for the Office of Student Life and the OSL Administrative Office, you are the primary contact providing information, education and/or appropriate referral in a caring and professional manner. Under general direction, you will provide administrative and clerical support for the Administrative team, and others, and independently perform a wide variety of complex assignments, projects, database and spreadsheet work in support of the Administrative team, the Office of Student Life and students. Additional tasks include: directing the work of student employees on a daily basis; budget maintenance; supply inventory tasks; and website updates. Additional tasks as requested. This position contributes towards the OSL mission of supporting student well-being and success, educational and Western’s care and concern team. 
Required Qualifications • High school graduate or equivalent
• Two years clerical experience or equivalent education/experience
• Six months working knowledge or experience with budgets and budget activities
• Six months work experience and proficient knowledge in using computer systems, to include, but not limited to: spreadsheets and data base software (such as Microsoft Excel and/or Access), word processing programs (Microsoft Word), calendaring and email (Microsoft Outlook), slide presentation programs (PowerPoint), internet, and office management computer systems
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge of general office operations
• Demonstrated skill and ability to provide excellent customer service particularly with customers experiencing crisis and/or in emotionally heightened states
• Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail, prioritize tasks, organize and track activities and schedules
• Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality
• Ability to work in support of multiple staff with ever-changing priorities and needs
• Demonstrated clarity in verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications • Experience with Banner, MyWestern
• Experience with Symplicity, WordPress
• Willingness to learn new software skills
• Six months experience coordinating travel
Salary New hires typically start at $2530/month including an excellent benefits package
Bargaining Unit This position is part of bargaining unit A and is covered by the collective bargaining agreement with the Washington Federation of State Employees.
