About the Position

As a senior-level architect or project lead, this position performs advanced planning, scheduling, and coordination, for new, small, in-house, design and construction projects. This work includes preliminary working drawings, specifications, and cost estimates, as well as ongoing project management. This position also plans and coordinates major alterations and improvements to existing buildings and facilities.

This position does not provide project management for larger public works projects.

Required Qualifications

• Licensed architect, with ability to obtain Washington State licensure within one month of beginning employment.
• Five or more years of professional experience as a licensed architect in planning, construction and project management of public works and alternative public works projects.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage time well and under pressure.
• Experience managing multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously.
• Ability to work effectively with employees of diverse backgrounds at all levels of the organization, and with outside   agencies.
• Working knowledge of architecture, planning, construction and project management.
• General knowledge of scheduling, budgeting, and hazardous materials used in construction,
• AutoCAD proficiency 
• Current driver’s license or ability to obtain driver's license within one month of beginning employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Five years architectural project management experience in a college/university or similar setting.
• CAD proficiency,
• LEED certification
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and page layout programs
• Working knowledge of relational databases

Salary New hires typically begin at $5,603.00/month including an excellent benefits package
Bargaining Unit This position is part of bargaining unit PT - PSE and is covered by the collective bargaining agreement with the Public School Employees of WWU.
