||Western Washington University, with over 15,000 students in seven colleges and the graduate school, is nationally recognized for its educational programs, students and faculty. The campus is located in Bellingham, Washington, a coastal community of 83,000 overlooking Bellingham Bay, the San Juan Islands and the North Cascades Mountain range. Western Libraries proudly serves as an intellectual crossroads for the university community and as an innovative partner in Western's teaching and research mission. In this important leadership role, librarians, staff, and student employees have joined with library colleagues nationwide to embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion, and vigorously oppose racism, prejudice, and discrimination.
The Libraries seeks to advance knowledge, self-awareness, and understanding. Western Libraries is a place of inquiry and learning where intellectual freedom, privacy, and confidentiality are respected and protected. The Libraries helps people to engage thoughtfully with our complex history, to find solutions to difficult societal problems, and to advance pluralism and democracy.
The Teaching & Learning Division of the Libraries leads a broad array of teaching and learning initiatives: credit courses, curricular-embedded initiatives such as workshops, and co-curricular initiatives such as tours and orientations. The Libraries also offer individual and small-group consultations to advance students' research and writing projects. These offerings reach undergraduate and graduate students across the disciplines, both in-person and at a distance, through a range of face-to-face and online teaching modalities. We seek to collaborate with new groups of instructors and learners through effective outreach and universal design.
The Teaching & Learning Division has innovated through a focus on integrated academic literacies. The Hacherl Research & Writing Studio provides consultations for individuals and groups on integrated academic literacies (research, writing, reading, speaking, listening, etc.). Our Integrated Research & Writing Workshop Series addresses the full arc of students' projects: Getting Started, Finding and Using Sources, and Revising and Editing. We also offer library instruction sessions, citation management workshops, and professional writing workshops for students and community users. Librarians consult with students, faculty, staff, and community members in the Hacherl Research & Writing Studio and by appointment to address a range of needs. Western Libraries also offers credit courses focused on information and academic literacies, for example, Introduction to the Research Process and Research-Writing Practicum. There is no major or minor degree program in Library and Information Science.
Together, these initiatives address three overarching learning outcomes: 1) Use and value inquiry for gaining and sharing knowledge, 2) Collaborate as respectful, productive, and ethical members of a diverse and inclusive intellectual community, and 3) Demonstrate a sense of agency for managing own learning.

|About the Position

Under the direction of the Director of Teaching & Learning, the successful candidate will contribute in the following ways:
- Consult with students, faculty, staff and community members in the Hacherl Research & Writing Studio and/or by appointment, in-person, via email and chat, or by phone/Skype
- Facilitate workshops, instructional sessions, tours and orientations, in-person or through a range of online modalities (e.g. webcasting software such as Zoom)
- Teach credit courses for undergraduate students, such as not not limited to: "Introduction to Research Strategies" or "Practicum in Research-Writing"
- Teaching may include face-to-face, online, and hybrid modalities
Under the direction of the Director of Teaching & Learning, the successful candidate may also:
- Contribute to projects such as development of services or collections; and development of curriculum, guides and learning objects
