With an emphasis on justice, social and environmental responsibility, and cultural diversity, we challenge ourselves through active, innovative, and experiential learning to examine our choices, roles, and purposes in the world.  Among its interdisciplinary offerings is a longstanding emphasis in audio recording, taught at a studio at the College, and a strong interest in the performance of popular music among faculty and students.

About the Position

As our Admissions and Community Outreach Coordinator you will serve Fairhaven College through the following functions and duties:

  • Coordinate, plan, and execute all college recruitment activities
  • Lead workshops, information sessions and other public presentations
  • Interview prospective students
  • Provide admissions and academic advising regarding Fairhaven College programs and degree planning
  • Respond to college admissions inquiries from prospective students, their families, high school and community college counselors and the public
  • Strengthen and expand recruitment efforts and relationship building among diverse communities and student populations
  • Participate in managing and maintaining the college outreach and public relations publications, web & social media
  • Manage application review and college enrollment process
  • Manage communication between the college and the applicant regarding application process, criteria and status as well as college policies and degree process
  • Maintain inquiry, applicant and admission data and provide regular analysis and reporting
  • Represent Fairhaven College in university and public programs such as Summerstart and Transitions
  • Serve as liaison to Western Washington University Admissions office
  • Assure articulation of Fairhaven's programs and admissions process by working closely with other WWU offices including Office of Admissions, New Student Services and others
  • Contribute to the overall operation of the Fairhaven College Office as needed
  • Work as part of a collaborative staff team to promote and represent the college in keeping with the mission and pedagogy of the college
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new student orientation, quarterly registration of new students and other college-wide activities 
Required Qualifications
  • Genuine demonstrable interest in working with college students
  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science from an accredited college or university
  • Excellent skills in interpersonal communication, written communication and public presentation
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with diverse populations
  • Direct student services, counseling, or academic advising experience
  • Demonstrated database and recordkeeping skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a strong collaborative team environment
  • Availability and willingness for regional recruitment and outreach travel
  • Reliable transportation to travel regularly to various sites to work with partner organizations and agencies

 

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Knowledge and/or experience of Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies, or experience with similar, interdisciplinary, student-centered, alternative academic programs
  • Experience in college or university admissions
  • Enrollment management database experience
  • Recruitment experience
  • Experience collaborating with faculty and/or university administration
  • Experience organizing and developing recruitment and/or orientation events
Salary  Commensurate with experience and qualification
